Section 14 - Known bugs
This section details reported faults which ANT have been able to duplicate, together with available workarounds and/or fixes since !InetSuite 1.31 was added to the Inet upgrades page.
If the fault you have discovered is not described here, please follow the steps for Reporting problems or suggestions to ANT. Please note however, that as Ant are no longer developing the suite, bugs in the core code are unlikely to be fixed.
!Fresco 1.72
Summary of fault
- Caching doesn't work correctly if Limit disc cache to is set to anything other than 0.
Workaround
- Ensure Limit disc cache to is set to 0 and use the Maximum number of files feature instead.

Summary of fault
- If !Fresco is displaying an animated GIF on its own, not as part of a HTML page, the timing between individual frames of the animation is incorrect.
Workaround
- Point !Fresco at an HTML page which refers to the animated GIF.

!Fresco 1.69
Summary of faults
- !Fresco does not preserve or add to the
!Fresco.Cookies
file correctly.
- When !Fresco generates a directory listing (for a file: URL), clicking on links to filenames of the form
<name>/<ext>
causes the error Can't open file to be displayed.
- !Fresco ignores the Keep cached files on exit setting.
- Closing a !Fresco window containing frames using CTRL+F2 results in an Illegal window handle error.
- Enabling Display->No pictures causes redraw problems if the page has a background image.
- "Netscape (compatible)" doesn't work.
- Resizing a !Fresco window containing a form using TEXTAREA will lose the contents.
- If !Scrap is accessed over a TCP/IP network (using ShareFS, NFS, NetFS, NexusFS or LanManFS), accessing URLs using HTTP will often fail with errors such as Operation would block, No data could be fetched for this URL, or even ShareFS cannot be used recursively.

Summary of fault
- Filenames or directories which include spaces are not displayed by !FTPclient.

Summary of fault
- FTP client has suffered a fatal internal error (pre-release version has timed out. Please contact ANT Ltd for a release version.) and must quit immediately.

Summary of faults
- Uploading files to an FTP server can sometimes cause the computer to hang.
- !FTPclient only displays files with English dates.

!Hotlist 1.35
Summary of fault
- Clicking on the Save icon can result in !Hotlist disappearing from the icon bar.
Workaround
- Reload !Hotlist; your hotlist should be OK.

!InetConfg 1.29
Summary of fault
- Click on Save can result in a crash.
Workaround
- Shut down and restart your computer.

!InetSuite 1.31
Summary of fault
- !InetSuite can recognise the presence of but cannot use the second port of an Intelligent Interfaces Dual High Speed Serial Interface Expansion Card.
Workaround
- The first port can be used. However, in the Modem setup window within !InetConfg, configure it to use the second port.

Summary of fault
- Filtering mail to a newsgroup not listed in the News setup window within !InetConfg will result in the articles being deleted; the InetSuite session window will display a ERR expire can't locate Xrefs line - article not written line for each lost message.
Workaround
- Ensure the newsgroup is listed in the News setup window within !InetConfg.
Fix from ANT
Summary of fault
- If the Territory is not configured to 1, quitting !InetSuite after dialling out to your ISP will freeze the computer.
Workaround
- Press F12, type *Configure Territory 1, then shut down and restart your computer before using !InetSuite.

- Memory claimed by !InetSuite while sending emails to it (e.g. using !Marcel), is not released correctly.

Summary of fault
- The InetSuite session window automatically closes when certain error messages are displayed.

Summary of fault
- If no Password is specified in the Provider setup window within !InetConfg and Demand dialling of modem is enabled in the Modem setup window, !InetSuite doesn't ask for password when it's required to demand dial.
Workaround
- Disable Demand dialling of modem.

!InetSuite 1.30 and earlier
Summary of fault
- When using a modem to connect to an ISP (or shortly after), errors such as Filer may have gone wrong or Wimp may have gone wrong are displayed and the computer may need to be switched off.

!Marcel 1.46
Summary of fault
- Some messages cannot be read, include an empty
data1
attachment, and the InetSuite session window may display ERR imap4d: Invalid MIME message (missing separator in body) when trying to access the attachment.
Fix from ANT
- Email ANT Support with a copy of your serial number, stating whether you're using the ANT Internet Suite or ANT Internet Server Suite.
Alternatively, if you're using the ANT Internet Suite, install the Marcel 1.53 update.
Summary of fault
- When reading news downloaded by !InetSuite, some entries in a Group <newsgroup> window are blank and double-clicking on them may result in !Marcel crashing.
Workaround
- Close the newsgroup window in !Marcel
Make a copy of the !InetSuite.Internet.Spool.News.<affected.news.group>
directory so you can email an archived copy of it to ANT Support.
Delete !InetSuite.Internet.Spool.News.<affected.news.group>./overview
Reload !Marcel to re-read the newsgroup.
Send to ANT Support a copy of both !InetSuite.Internet.Spool.News./active
and the archived newsgroup.
Summary of fault
- !Marcel cannot use passwords for local users containing spaces.
Workaround
- Change the password within !InetConfg, ensuring no spaces are used.
Fix from ANT
!Marcel 1.42
Summary of faults
- Selecting the Line length exceeds 80 characters warning in the Set warnings window has no effect for lines less than 160 characters.
- Searching through a folder of downloaded mail using From/To only locates the emails sent to the address, not from it.
- No * indication of new mail displayed in the list of local users in the Connect to mail server window.
- Using CTRL+SHIFT+V to move an email to a non-existant folder then clicking on Create in a Marcel window displaying the text The folder '<folder name>' doesn't exist - would you like to create it? crashes !Marcel.

!Marcel 1.41 & 1.42
Summary of faults
- Clicking on Cancel in a Marcel window displaying the text The folder '<folder name>' doesn't exist - would you like to create it? crashes !Marcel.
Workaround
- Do not click on Cancel but instead click on something outside the window. If this has just happened, shut down and restart the computer.
Fix from ANT
Summary of fault
- Leaving the Address book window open when selecting Close from the !Marcel menu results in the error message Cannot find DLL function - 'Symbol 'AddressAbort' not found' displayed.
Workaround
- Either close the Address book before selecting Close from the !Marcel menu or, if this has just occurred, quit and reload !Marcel.

- Selecting a local user, opening a mail folder or trying to read an email results in the error message c-client: locked when already locked
