Section 11 - Upgrading

Q11.1)	I have just upgraded to Release II but would like to move some of my files over to the new version. Can I do this?
Q11.2)	I can't use high density discs, how can I get a double density disc set?
Q11.3)	How can I upgrade my Release II software?
Q11.4)	How can I install the Suite afresh yet not lose my current settings?
Q11.5)	What are the version numbers of the latest software?

Q11.1) I have just upgraded to Release II but would like to move some of my files over to the new version. Can I do this?

Many aspects of the Internet Suite have changed between Release I and Release II but some configuration information can be moved from one to the other.

Email folders: Release I email folders are compatible with Release II. Copy your folders into the newly created UserDir.Mail directory.
News archives: The format of news has changed significantly between Release I and Release II which prevents news from being moved to the new software.
Hotlist file: Your old hotlist can be moved from Release I to Release II. To do this, open your original <filer("!InetSuite.Internet.Files"); > directory, now run the !Hotlist application. Drag the Hotlist file from the !InetSuite.Internet.Files directory onto the !Hotlist window. When this is done, click on the Save icon in the !Hotlist window to save the hotlist to disc.
Email address book: Marcel stores your address book in the !MarcelDir.Files.Aliases file. This file must be copied into your new !MarcelDir.Files directory.

Q11.2) I can't use high density discs, how can I get a double density disc set?

Double density disc sets are available from ANT support on request. Please note that since I took over Ant Support I am unable to provide free double-density disc sets. These are available at a cost of £5.00 including UK postage and packing to subscribers of my Ant Support Scheme.

Q11.3) How can I upgrade my Release II software?

The possibilities are:

If you have a single user copy of the Internet Suite: You can download updates from the Inet upgrades page and apply these to a single or site licence copy of the Internet Suite.
If you only have a site licence copy of the Internet Suite but not a single user copy, or if there is a problem accessing the latest releases page: Email ANT Support your serial number together with the version number of the application(s) you wish to upgrade and we can email you a copy of the appropriate upgrade files.

Upgrade files obtained by either method can be installed using !Upgrade, as detailed in section 11.3 of the manual.
If you have a site licence copy of an individual application such as !Marcel or !Fresco but not the entire Internet Suite, we can upgrade your copy by post.
To upgrade your software by post, please return the original disk(s) to us in an envelope marked for the attention of ANT Support, together with a cheque or postal order for 10UKP per upgrade, a brief covering letter and a copy of your serial number.

Q11.4) How can I install the Suite afresh yet not lose my current settings?

Please follow the steps below:

Rename your exisiting Internet directory to IntOld
Install the new copy of the Suite to the Internet directory.
From the IntOld to the Internet directory, copy the following:
- !InetSuite.Internet.Files
- !InetSuite.Internet.Spool
- UserDir
- Any local users whose home directories were in the IntOld directory.
Load the configuration application in the Suite, !InetConfg.
Click on Save.
Shut down and restart your machine.

Q11.5) What are the version numbers of the latest software?

Note that some installations of the ANT Internet Server Suite may be using a later version of !InetSuite and !ANTUsers.

Using the Internet Suite

Ensure you're reading mail and/or news using !Marcel.

Press CTRL F12 to open a task window.

Type *Help InetServer and press RETURN.
Using the Server Suite

Ensure you're running both !InetSuite and !ANTUsers on the ANT Server.

On the ANT Server, press CTRL F12 to open a task window.

Type *Help InetServer and press RETURN.
